oh my gosh, you guys, defender of the crown is back! this classic amiga strategy game has been around for 40 years, and to celebrate, it's getting a brand new pc port called the legend returns. i'm super stoked to see this game come back to life, especially since it's going to have both the original pixelated graphics and a fresh new look.

so, for those who don't know, defender of the crown is all about building up your army and taking over medieval england after the king dies. it's a total blast, with jousting and castle invasions and all that good stuff. the new version, the legend returns, is going to have all of that plus some modern graphics and smoother systems. i love that they're still using pixel art, but with a more contemporary twist - it looks really cool, especially the jousting parts.

but here's the thing: there's also a brand new mode called kingdom mode, which is like a roguelite. it's all about procedurally generated maps, deckbuilding, and dice-driven combat. you have to unite the kingdom by defeating these three enemy lords, all while dealing with brigands and norman forces and stuff. it sounds like so much fun, and i love that the game is getting a fresh new spin like this. plus, you can unlock new dice types and relics and mechanics as you play, which is always a good time.
