so, there's this new processor from amd, the ryzen 9 9950x3d2 dual edition, and it's basically a supercharged version of the 9950x3d - but with a price tag that's just, like, wow. it's $899, which is a whole lot of cash, especially when you consider that the original 9950x3d launched at $699 and can now be found for even less.



i mean, what do you get for that extra $200 to $260? well, you get a bit more cache - 192 mb of l3 cache, to be exact, which is 64 mb more than the original. you also get a slightly lower boost clock, which might seem like a weird tradeoff, but whatever. the real question is, is it worth it? and honestly, for most people, probably not. amd itself said that a dual ccd processor with 3d v-cache on both chiplets would be pointless for gaming, and it's hard to argue with that.



but, there are some cases where the extra cache and symmetrical ccds do make a difference. like, the thread scheduling issue that's plagued some of amd's other x3d processors is basically fixed here, since both ccds have the extra cache. and, in some benchmarks, the 9950x3d2 dual edition actually manages to pull ahead of its predecessors - like in cyberpunk 2077, where it's about 8% faster on average.



it's also worth noting that the dual edition has some other perks, like a more consistent boost clock across both ccds - it can hit 5.6 ghz on either chiplet, which is pretty cool. andRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
