so, you guys know how amd and intel are always competing in the cpu market, right? well, new research just came out and it's pretty interesting. apparently, amd now owns 38.1% of the overall x86 cpu market, which is up from 35.4% last quarter. that's a pretty big deal, if you ask me.

but here's the thing - even though amd is doing well overall, it's actually losing ground in desktop pcs. it's got 37.6% of revenues and 33.2% of unit sales, which is down from last quarter. on the other hand, it's doing amazing in the server market, with 46.2% of revenues and 33.2% of unit sales. that's because its server cpus are selling for way more than intel's, which is pretty impressive.

i'm also stoked to see that amd is gaining ground in laptops, with 28.9% of overall revenues and 28.3% of unit sales. that's up from last quarter, and it just goes to show that amd is really pushing to be competitive in all areas. and let's be real, it's not like intel is just going to roll over and let amd take the lead. intel still owns 70% of the overall cpu market by unit sales, which is just crazy.
