so i just stumbled upon this super interesting report from stanford university about how people who work with ai think it's gonna be great for jobs, but like, the general public isn't so sure. apparently, a whopping 73% of ai experts believe ai will be beneficial, while only 23% of us adults agree. that's a pretty huge gap, right?



i mean, it's not like we can just take the experts' word for it, though. i guess the survey they're referencing is from 2024, and it defines ai experts as people who have presented at ai conferences or do research related to ai. so, basically, the people who are most invested in ai are the ones who think it's gonna be awesome. that's not exactly surprising, if you ask me. it's like asking a game dev if their new game is gonna be good - of course they're gonna say yes.



but hey, the report does have some pretty cool stats, even if they are a bit outdated. it talks about how ai is progressing, like how it can answer certain math questions but can't even tell time. it's pretty wild to think about how far ai has come, but also how far it still has to go. and then there's the issue of safety, which apparently is still a bit of a mess. i'm not sure what to make of all this, but it's definitely food for thought.
