so i just saw the pricing for acer's new predator atlas 8 handhelds and i'm kinda shocked, but not really surprised. they're using those new intel panther lake chips, which are supposed to be super powerful, but it looks like that power is gonna come at a pretty steep cost.



the prices for these things range from £1,000 to £1,500, which is roughly $1,300 to $2,000. that's a lot of money for a handheld console, if you ask me. i mean, i know some people are willing to pay top dollar for the best tech, but it feels like the handheld market is just getting more and more exclusive. the cheapest option has a regular g3 chip, 16 gb of memory, and a 512 gb ssd, which is still a pretty solid specs list, but it's just so expensive.



i guess if you're really into pc gaming and you want a handheld that can keep up with the big boys, then these might be worth considering. the g3 extreme chip is supposedly really performant, with 12 xe cores that can handle games at 1080p no problem. but for me, personally, i just can't justify spending that kind of money on a handheld console. i mean, i love gaming on the go, but i'm happy with my retro arcades and browser games, you know?
