so i just found out that someone's been working on a mod for starfield that lets you take off from planets without those annoying loading screens. i mean, isn't that like, the whole point of exploring space - to feel like you're actually there, you know? it's pretty cool that a modder named 0xbobby is trying to make that happen, even if it's not perfect yet.

so, the mod is called seamless planet takeoffs, and it basically lets you stay in the cockpit of your ship as you leave a planet's atmosphere. it's not like the game is completely loading-screen-free or anything, but it's definitely an improvement over what we had before. apparently, the mod works by kind of masking the loading screens, so you can still tell when the game is switching between different areas, but it's way less jarring than it used to be.

i've seen some videos of the mod in action, and it looks pretty slick. the transition from planet to space is way smoother than it was before, and it really adds to the whole immersion thing. of course, there are still some limitations - like, the mod doesn't work for landings, which is a bit of a bummer. according to 0xbobby, making landings seamless would be way too complicated, so we might just have to stick with the regular loading screens for those.

i'm really hoping that this mod inspires the developers to make some changes to the game, though. i mean, it's not like we're asking for much - just a way to explore space without feeling like we're being pulled out of the experience every five minutes. and who knows, maybe someday we'll get a version of starfield that's totally loading-screen-free. a girl canRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
