omg, you guys, it's finally happening - a metal gear solid movie is in the works. like, we've been waiting for this for 20 years now, ever since hideo kojima announced it back in 2006. i'm talking about a live-action film based on the iconic game series, and i am beyond hyped.

i know, i know, we've all been burned before by videogame adaptations that never seem to materialize. just cause and splinter cell are just a couple of examples that come to mind - they were announced years ago, but we still haven't seen anything come of it. but with sony on board and a directing duo attached, i'm feeling a little more hopeful about this one. zach lipovsky and adam b. stein are the ones who'll be bringing metal gear solid to life, and they've already got a pretty impressive track record with final destination: bloodlines.

so, what do we know so far? well, lipovsky and stein have signed a deal with sony to develop multiple films, including an animated venom movie and a sci-fi film called the earthling. and, of course, metal gear solid is on that list too. the directors are saying all the right things, praising kojima's "groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece" and promising to bring the characters and world to life in a way that'll do the game justice. it's all pretty standard stuff, but i'm just excited to see some progress on this project after all these years.
