so, it's that time of the year again - april fools day, where the whole gaming industry goes wild with fake news and jokes. and this year, it seems like a pretty crazy real-life story inspired a lot of these jokes. apparently, someone stole 12 tonnes of kitkats, which is just insane. the official kitkat company confirmed that a shipment between italy and poland got pilfered, and they're working with the authorities to figure out what happened.

i have to say, it's pretty funny that this happened right before april fools day, because it gave all these gaming companies the perfect opportunity to make some jokes about it. for example, chuckle fish made this adorable little gif of characters from wargroove 2 gathering around a pile of stolen kitkats. and then there's this ubisoft fansite that photoshopped ezio from assassin's creed leaping into a giant pile of kitkats - it's so ridiculous, but it made me laugh.

running with scissors, the devs behind the postal series, also got in on the fun with a mock post claiming their offices got raided, and that a former employee used their "second amendment rights" to take down the kitkat thieves. it's all just a big joke, of course, but it's cool to see these companies having fun with it. and it's not just them - dead by daylight, call of duty uk, and even konami joined in with their own kitkat-themed april fools jokes. konami's post about darwin's paradox was especially funny, hinting that a fictional octopus might be behind the great kitkat heist.
