omg, you guys, have you heard about the upcoming consoles that are supposed to cost a whopping $1,000? like, i know some of us are used to spending a pretty penny on our gaming setups, but that's just crazy. and now, the head of amazon games, jeff gattis, is trying to pitch cloud gaming as a solution to this problem. apparently, he thinks that with consoles getting so expensive, people will start to consider cloud gaming as a viable alternative.

i don't know about you, but i'm not totally convinced by this idea. i mean, cloud gaming has been around for a while now, and it's never really taken off. gattis says that amazon isn't trying to replace consoles or pcs, but rather offer another option for people who can't afford the traditional gaming hardware. and i guess that makes sense - after all, there are billions of people around the world who play games, but only a fraction of them own dedicated gaming devices.

according to gattis, the idea is that as streaming technology gets better, more people will start to question whether they really need a console or gaming pc. and i can see that - i mean, if you can play your favorite games on any device with an internet connection, why bother with a separate console? but at the same time, i'm not sure that cloud gaming is really the answer to our problems. i mean, haven't we seen this all before with google stadia and other cloud gaming services?
