so i just heard about this pirate game called windrose that's out now in early access for pc, and i'm kinda stoked about it. the devs seem to be really passionate about the whole pirate vibe, and it turns out they're huge fans of assassin's creed iv: black flag - which, let's be real, is an amazing game.
apparently, the team at kraken express thinks black flag is the best pirate game of all time, and it's easy to see why they'd be inspired by it. but windrose isn't just a copycat - the devs are also drawing inspiration from other games like valheim and enshrouded, which is pretty cool. i love seeing developers take risks and try to create something new and unique, even if it's within a genre that's been done before.
one thing that's got me curious is that windrose was originally supposed to be free-to-play, but the devs decided to ditch that model altogether. i'm not sure how i feel about this - on the one hand, it's nice to know that the game won't be plagued by microtransactions and whatnot. on the other hand, it means we've got to pay for the game upfront, which might be a turn-off for some people. preorders are available at major retailers, if you're interested in checking it out.
what really draws me to windrose, though, is the whole pirate theme. i mean, who doesn't love pirates, right? the devs seem to think that this niche is still underserved, and i've got to agree - there aren't that many good pirate games out there, especially not ones that really capture the sense of adventure and freedom that comes with sailing the high seas. so, even though windroseRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
