so there's this new resident evil movie coming out, directed by zach cregger who's also behind weapons and barbarian. what's pretty interesting about it is that it's not featuring any of the familiar characters from the games. i mean, i was kinda expecting to see leon kennedy or jill valentine show up, but apparently that's not happening.
i guess the reason for this is that the director wants the movie to be a self-contained story, and he thinks it would be weird to force the game characters into it. he says he has to prioritize the story above all else, and that's fair, i suppose. it's just that, as a fan of the games, it's a bit hard not to feel a little disappointed that we won't get to see our favorite characters on the big screen.
the movie is supposed to be an entirely original story set in the resident evil universe, which could be cool, i guess. the director seems pretty confident that fans of the games will enjoy it, even without the familiar characters. he says it's very much his own style, but set in the resident evil world, so we'll just have to wait and see how that turns out. the movie stars austin abrams as some kind of medical courier who gets caught up in a super scary adventure, which sounds like it could be pretty intense.
i'm a bit curious about the main character, bryan, who's supposed to be this everyday guy with no combat skills or survival abilities. the director compares him to frodo from lord of the rings, which is a pretty interesting reference. i'm not sure how that's going to play out, but i'm willing to give it a shot. the movie is set to hit theaters on september 18,Read more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
