so, you've probably noticed that everything is getting more expensive these days, right? like, i went to the mall last weekend and my fave coffee drink was, like, a dollar more than it was last month. anyway, it seems like this price hike trend might be coming for the nintendo switch 2 too. some ex-nintendo guy, sean, was on a podcast and said that a price increase is basically unavoidable.
i guess what's making things worse is that there are all these external factors that nintendo can't really control, like inflation and tariffs and stuff. and apparently, the demand for chips is causing memory prices to go up, which is a problem for console manufacturers. oh, and get this - helium prices are also going up, and that's a key component in making semiconductors. it's like, the perfect storm of expenses or something.
sean thinks that nintendo might try to make a potential price hike more palatable by keeping their downloadable game prices lower. which, i guess, is a nice gesture and all, but it's not like it's going to make me feel better if the switch 2 ends up being, like, a hundred bucks more than the original. i mean, i'm already saving up for it, but come on. preorders are available at major retailers, so i guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
