so i just heard that the new ghost recon game is having some major issues. like, we're talking potential complete reboot or even cancellation if they can't get it together. this is pretty disappointing, since i was really hyped about a new ghost recon game. it's been a while since we've seen a good one, and i was hoping this would be the one to revive the series.
apparently, the game - which is codenamed project ovr - didn't quite meet ubisoft's expectations during a recent review. and from what i've heard, it's because of some pretty unrealistic deadlines and some not-so-great planning and management. i mean, we've all been there, right? trying to rush a project and just hoping for the best. but when it comes to game development, that's just not going to cut it. especially when you're working on a big title like ghost recon.
ubisoft is supposedly taking a more hands-on approach with project ovr now, bringing in some extra executives to oversee the development. which, i guess, could be a good thing? i mean, maybe they can help get the game back on track. but at the same time, it's a bit worrying that they're having to step in like this. and with rumors of "silent layoffs" already happening on the project ovr team, it's hard not to wonder if the game is just doomed from the start.
it's also worth noting that ubisoft has been having a bit of a tough time lately. they just shut down some studios in winnipeg and belgrade, and they're dealing with a pretty big operating loss. like, we're talking over a billion euros. yikes. but despite all this, they're still talking about upcoming titlesRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
