apparently, the development process started way back in 2017, after the team finished up with miitomo. the game director, ryutaro takahashi, shared some behind-the-scenes info in a recent interview, and it's pretty cool to see how passionate he and the producer, yoshio sakamoto, are about the series. they're total fans of the original tomodachi life on the 3ds, and it shows in the amount of love and care they've put into this new game.

so, what's the big deal about tomodachi life: living the dream? well, for starters, the team wanted to create a game that's all about user-generated content and inside jokes. they've included a crazy character creator that lets you make pretty much anyone or anything you can think of - i mean, people have already made garfield, which is hilarious. and, fun fact, the devs even made pikmin into pets within the game, which is just adorable.
