omg, you guys, i just found out that one of the coolest lego sets ever is on sale right now - the super mario world: mario and yoshi set. it's a whopping 1,215 pieces and is normally $130, but you can snag it for $104, which is the lowest price it's been yet. as a huge fan of retro games and pixel art, i am totally obsessed with this set.
i love how this set pays homage to the old super nintendo games - it's literally like a piece of my childhood in lego form. the fact that it's got that retro 16-bit vibe going on just makes it even more awesome. and the best part is, it's not just a static display model - it's got all these interactive components that bring the characters to life. like, you can make yoshi's tongue extend and his legs move like he's running, which is just so cool.
the set itself is pretty big, too - it measures 15.5 x 10 x 4 inches, so it's definitely a statement piece for any gaming fan's shelf. and if you've got one of the adventures with lego super mario starter courses, you can even use the action tag to make the interactive figures react, which is a really nice touch. i've heard that the instructions are super easy to follow, even if you're not the most experienced lego builder, which is great news for kids and adults alike.
i think what really sets this set apart, though, is the attention to detail. lego did an amazing job of capturing the pixel art aesthetic of the old super nintendo games, and it's just so much fun to build and display. and at $104, itRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
