so i just heard that sony is setting some expectations for the upcoming ps6, and i'm a bit torn about it. basically, they're saying that they won't be taking a huge hit on the hardware costs for the next-gen console, which makes sense, but also means we might be looking at a pretty pricey purchase.
i mean, think about it - the current gen consoles are already pretty expensive, and it sounds like the ps6 might be even more so. sony's not trying to absorb all the cost increases, and they've already raised prices outside of japan. it's not like they're trying to be super greedy or anything, but they do want us to understand the value we're getting for our money. which, fair enough, i guess.
the thing that's got me a bit worried is that sales for the ps5 have actually been dropping lately. may was a pretty bad month for playstation, with a 43% drop in spending and a 58% drop in unit sales. that's like, the lowest it's been in 26 years. and it's not just sony - microsoft's xbox sales have been suffering too. i'm not sure what's going on, but it seems like the whole gaming industry is just getting more and more expensive.
i'm also a bit curious about the ps6's launch plans, which seem to be getting more and more delayed. apparently, there's a shortage of memory chips and rising costs that are throwing everything off. some people think it might not even launch until the end of the decade, which is like, a pretty long way off. and to make matters worse, sony hasn't even figured out the pricing or launch date yet. preorders are available at major retailers, but i'mRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
