omg, have you guys heard about what's going on with crunchyroll? they're basically killing off their physical anime sales, and i'm still trying to wrap my head around it. as a huge anime fan, i've always loved browsing their store for new dvd and blu-ray releases, but it looks like those days are numbered.
so, here's what's happening: crunchyroll is scaling back their online store and getting rid of a ton of their current stock. from now on, they're only going to be selling "collectibles, curated drops, and limited-release products" to their higher-tier subscribers, aka the mega and ultimate fans. it's like, what even is the point of that? i know some people love collecting fancy anime merch, but for those of us who just want to own our favorite shows on disc, this is basically a nightmare.
i've been reading through the reactions online, and let's just say people are not happy. a lot of longtime customers are feeling betrayed, especially the ones who have been loyal to right stuf international (which crunchyroll acquired back in 2023). it seems like crunchyroll has been dropping the ball on supporting some really popular series, like gundam and macross, and now they're just abandoning physical releases altogether. and what about all the people who were looking forward to that dirty pair blu-ray kickstarter? it's just so frustrating.
it's also super suspicious that this is happening right after sony announced they're ending production of playstation game discs by 2028. like, what's going on with these companies and their war on physical media? don't they know that some of us actually like owning tangible copies of our favorite games and shows? i guess preorders are available at majorRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
What do you think about this?
