omg, you guys, i just saw the craziest thing - a steam page for rust 2 just popped up out of nowhere. i mean, i'm a huge fan of the original rust, it's like this super intense survival game that's all about building and scavenging in a post-apocalyptic world. so when i saw that page, i was totally stoked, thinking that a sequel was finally on the way.
but, yeah, it turns out that was just a big ol' false alarm. the head of facepunch, the dev team behind rust, just straight up said "nope, we're not making rust 2". like, what even is that steam page then? apparently, it didn't have any images or details or anything, so it was pretty sketchy from the start. the devs seem just as baffled as we are, with no idea how that page even got up there.
i did some digging, and it looks like the people who monitor the steam database are calling that page "suspicious" - they think it might be malicious or even impersonating another game. which, honestly, is kinda scary. i mean, who puts up a fake page for a game that doesn't exist? preorders are available at major retailers for the original rust, if you're interested in checking it out, but yeah, don't get your hopes up for a sequel just yet.
anyway, i'm still holding out hope that we'll get a rust 2 someday, but for now, it looks like we're just stuck with the original (which, don't get me wrong, is still an amazing game). i'm just curious to know what's going to happen with that weird steam page - will it get taken downRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
