so i just heard about the new resident evil movie and i'm kinda torn about it. the director, zach cregger, is saying that it's not gonna be based on any of the game stories or characters, which is pretty surprising. i mean, usually when they make a movie out of a game, they try to stick to the original story, but not this time.

apparently, cregger wants to make a movie that feels like it's part of the resident evil world, but doesn't retell any of the stories we already know and love. he thinks that if he tried to remake leon's story, for example, it would just be redundant and disappointing. i kinda get what he's saying, the games do an amazing job of telling their own stories, so maybe it's better to just leave those alone.

the movie is supposed to follow a similar format to the games, though, with a character going on a crazy journey from point a to point b. cregger says he wants to celebrate everything he loves about the games, but do it in his own way. i'm not sure how i feel about this, part of me is excited to see a new take on the resident evil world, but another part of me is worried that it's gonna be totally different from what i know and love.

preorders are available at major retailers, and i'm kinda tempted to check it out just to see what all the fuss is about. i'm not sure if it's gonna be any good, but i'm willing to give it a shot. has anyone else heard about this movie? what do you guys think, are you excited or are you gonna pass?Read more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
