omg, you guys, have you heard about the whole trans gallade situation in pokemon champions? it's pretty wild. so, apparently, the game had a tutorial where gallade, which is usually a male-only pokemon, was labeled as female. i mean, i'm not gonna lie, it was kinda awesome to see some accidental queer representation in the game.
i did some digging, and it turns out that gallade is normally only male because it evolves from a male kirlia when you use a dawn stone. kirlia can also evolve into gardevoir, but that's a different story. anyway, the fact that we got a female gallade, even if it was just a glitch, was pretty cool. i've seen some posts on social media where people were celebrating it, and i can see why - it's not every day you see a game accidentally create a queer icon.
but, of course, the developers had to go and ruin it. they released a statement saying that the whole thing was just a bug, and they're gonna patch it out in a future update. i mean, i get it, bugs are bugs, but it's still kinda sad to see trans gallade go. i've seen some fans on social media mourning the loss, and i can relate. it's not like the game was intentionally trying to be inclusive or anything, but still, it was a nice little surprise.
preorders are available at major retailers, but honestly, i'm not sure if i'm still hyped about the game. i mean, it's still gonna be a great pokemon game and all, but the whole trans gallade thing was a nice little bonus. i guess we'll just have to wait and see what other surprises the game has in storeRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
