omg, you guys, have you heard the news about the original nintendo switch? it's basically being phased out in europe, which is kinda crazy considering it's still a super popular console. i mean, it's not like it's old or anything, but i guess with the switch 2 out now, it's time to say goodbye to the old girl.

so, apparently nintendo is stopping production of the original switch, switch lite, and switch oled in europe by mid-february 2027. that's like, really soon. and get this - it's all because of some new eu regulation that says consoles have to be designed so you can replace the batteries yourself. which, fair enough, is a pretty cool idea. but nintendo didn't want to bother redesigning the old switch, so they're just discontinuing it instead.

i'm a bit sad about it, to be honest. i love my old switch, and i know lots of other people do too. but at the same time, it's not like we're losing access to all our favorite games or anything. we can just get the switch 2 instead, which is basically the same thing but with some fancy new features. and hey, the switch 2 is still one of the few consoles that uses physical media, which is a big plus in my book. i mean, i know some people are into digital games and all that, but there's just something about holding a real game cartridge in your hands that can't be beat.
