so, you guys know how nintendo is like, a total legend in the gaming world, right? well, it's crazy to think about how they didn't always dominate the scene. back in the day, they were all about making playing cards, toys, and other random stuff. and, fun fact, they even made arcade games way before donkey kong was a thing.

anyway, there's this super rare nintendo arcade game from 1974 called wild gunman '74 - it's named like that to avoid confusion with other nintendo games with similar names. apparently, it was created by the genius gunpei yokoi, who's like, a total legend in the gaming world. wild gunman '74 was a lightgun game that used full-motion video, which was basically mind-blowing tech at the time. it was all about quick-draw shootouts with outlaws in the wild west, and it even got a lot of attention from trade magazines back then.

but, despite being a total marvel, wild gunman '74 didn't exactly sell well - only around 100 units were sold, making it super rare and hard to find. and, because it's so old and uses proprietary tech, it's pretty much impossible to get your hands on a working unit. there's only one known original machine in existence, and it's owned by some private collector. which is pretty sad, because i would love to try it out.

luckily, some dedicated fans are working to bring wild gunman '74 back to life. this one guy, callan brown, got his hands on some of the original film reels used in the arcade machine, and he's been working to restore it. he even documented the whole process on youtube, which is pretty cool. iRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
