omg, you guys, have you heard about the new lego donkey kong set? it's literally a dream come true for retro gamers like me. this set is a total throwback to the classic 1981 arcade game, and i am so here for it. it's got all the details that made the original game so iconic, from the scaffolding and ladders to the barrels and hammer - it's like stepping back into a vintage arcade.

so, the set itself is pretty massive, with 1,371 pieces to build and a price tag of $200. but trust me, it's worth it. you get to build a fully functional arcade cabinet, complete with a mechanism that circulates the barrels in a continuous loop. and the best part? you can even move jumpman (aka mario) around with a joystick and make him jump by hitting the right button. it's so cool. and as a bonus, if you preorder from certain retailers, you'll get a free animal crossing kit featuring tom nook - which is valued at $5, btw.

one thing that's kinda bummer is that the set doesn't come with any minifigures. but, on the bright side, you do get pieces to build pixel-accurate versions of jumpman, donkey kong, and lady, which is still pretty awesome. and when you're all done building, the set is pretty impressive, measuring 15.5 inches tall and 10.5 inches wide. i can already imagine it sitting proudly on my shelf, next to my other retro gaming goodies.

lego's been killing it with their nintendo sets lately, and this donkey kong set is just the latest in a long line of awesome releases. last yearRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
