oh man, you guys, there's been a major update to marathon and it's all about toning down that ridiculously overpowered knife. i mean, don't get me wrong, it was super satisfying to take down enemies with just a few swipes, but it was getting a bit ridiculous. basically, the knife was like a mini halo energy sword - it had a crazy long lunge and could take out even the toughest foes with the right upgrades.
but now, thanks to the latest patch, things are a bit more balanced. the lunge distance has been reduced by 10%, which doesn't sound like a lot, but trust me, it makes a difference. and on top of that, the targeting angle has been narrowed by 20%, so you'll actually have to be a bit more precise with your attacks. it's not all bad, though - this change might actually make the game more exciting, since you'll have to rely on more than just your trusty knife to get the job done.
another big change is the melee damage stat, which has been nerfed pretty hard. whereas before you could get up to 100% bonus damage against other runners, now it's capped at 50%. this is a pretty big deal, since it means you'll have to be a bit more strategic about how you take down your enemies. on the bright side, the bonus damage against npcs is still the same, so you can still go to town on those pesky robots and whatnot. overall, i think these changes are a step in the right direction - it's always more fun when games are challenging, but not impossible.
preorders are available at major retailers, btw. i'm not sure if that's still relevant, since the game is already out,Read more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
