omg, you guys, have you heard that the backyard sports series is back? i know, i'm totally freaking out too. it's been years since we've seen a new game from this beloved franchise, and i'm so stoked to see what they've been working on. apparently, it all started when a teacher named lindsay barnett decided to revive the series. she was teaching elementary school in chicago and realized her students were playing some pretty violent games, so she wanted to find something more suitable for them.
she started looking into the backyard sports games, but they were nowhere to be found. like, the rights to the brand were just lost in limbo or something. so, barnett did what any dedicated teacher would do - she hired a private investigator to track down the rights. it took over two years, but she finally got them. and then she partnered with mega cat studios to start developing new games. at first, they were just going to make a new game that was similar to the old ones, but then they had this crazy idea to actually bring back the original backyard baseball '97.
i mean, can you even imagine trying to reverse-engineer an old game like that? it's like trying to solve a puzzle that's been locked away for decades. but mega cat studios was all about it, and they managed to make it happen. they even re-released some of the old games, like backyard baseball '97 and backyard baseball 2001, just to test the waters. and now, they've released a brand new game that combines the classic 2d style with a more modern look. i'm so curious to see how it turns out - will it be just like the old games, or will it have some new twists and surprises?Read more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
