so, you know how gamestop has that pretty cool rewards program for its loyal customers? well, it looks like things are about to change, and not exactly for the better. apparently, gamestop is trying to cut costs and has decided to make some major changes to its pro membership program, which is kind of a bummer.
i mean, the pro points thing was one of the best features of the program - you could earn points for buying games and other stuff, and then redeem them for more games or merchandise later on. it was like a nice little bonus for being a loyal customer. but, starting july 15, new pro members won't be able to earn those points anymore. and, if you're already a pro member, you've only got until august 15 before you stop earning points too.
it's not hard to see why gamestop employees are pretty upset about this decision. i mean, who doesn't love getting rewards for buying stuff they love anyway? some employees are even saying they don't want to try to sell the pro membership to customers anymore, which is pretty understandable. it's like, why bother if the best part of the program is just going to be taken away?
gamestop's ceo, ryan cohen, has been in the news a lot lately, and not just because of this whole rewards program thing. apparently, he's been trying to buy ebay, which is kind of a big deal. but, ebay is all like "no thanks, we're good" and it's hard to blame them. cohen's plans are pretty ambitious, but it's not like gamestop has the resources to back them up. preorders are available at major retailers, but i'm not sure how much that's going to matter ifRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
