omg, you guys, have you heard about the drama going on with xbox game pass? basically, the creative director of forza horizon 5, mike brown, just came out and said that game pass was a good idea, but it didn't quite work out as planned. and honestly, it's pretty sad to see. the idea behind game pass was to have this huge library of games that people could play for a monthly subscription fee, but it looks like not enough people were interested.
i mean, think about it - microsoft was hoping to have 77 million subscribers by now, but they're only at around 30 million. that's a huge difference, and it's no wonder that the company is feeling the pain. brown said that if more people had subscribed, it would have made enough money to keep all the studios going and allow them to make more games. but unfortunately, that didn't happen, and now we're seeing studios get shut down and people losing their jobs.
it's crazy to think about how much money microsoft invested in game pass - we're talking a fortune here - and it just didn't pay off. they bought up all these studios and were trying to release new games all the time to keep people subscribed, but it just didn't work out. and it's not like they didn't see it coming - apparently, some people inside xbox were warning the executives that game pass could actually hurt game sales in the long run.
i've heard some people say that game pass devalues games, and that it's just not a sustainable model. and it's hard to argue with that, when you think about it. i mean, if you can play all these amazing games for a low monthly fee, why would you ever buy a game outright again? itRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
