so, you've probably heard of xbox game pass - it's like, this super popular subscription service where you can play a ton of games for a flat monthly fee. lately, though, people have been saying it's getting a bit pricey. and honestly, i'm kinda with them on that. i mean, who doesn't love playing a bunch of games without breaking the bank, right?
anyway, the new ceo of microsoft gaming, asha sharma, seems to agree with us. she basically said that game pass has gotten too expensive for players, and they're gonna try to change that. apparently, they want to create a "better value equation" or something, which sounds like corporate speak for "we're gonna make it cheaper and more awesome". i'm all for that, personally. i love game pass, but the price hike last year was kinda steep - we're talking 50% more expensive, which is a big jump.
so, what's behind all this? well, from what i've heard, microsoft raised the price of game pass ultimate to $30 back in october 2025. that's a pretty big increase, and it's supposedly because they added some new call of duty games to the service. which, don't get me wrong, is cool and all, but it's not like i'm made of money or anything. and now there are rumors that they might even take call of duty out of game pass altogether, which could be a bit of a bummer for some people.
