so, you guys have probably heard about xbox game pass, right? it's like, this super popular subscription service where you can play a ton of games for a flat monthly fee. well, microsoft just announced some pretty big changes to the service, and i'm kinda excited to see how it all plays out.
basically, they're dropping the price of game pass, which is amazing news for all of us gamers on a budget. the ultimate tier, which is the most expensive one, is now $23 a month instead of $30, and the pc version is $14 a month instead of $16.50. that's a decent chunk of change, if you ask me. and the best part is, if you sign up now, you'll get the lower price right away.
but here's the thing: all these price drops come with a bit of a catch. microsoft is no longer including new call of duty games in the service at launch. which, honestly, is kinda a bummer. i mean, call of duty is a huge franchise, and a lot of people probably signed up for game pass just to play those games. on the other hand, i guess it's not the end of the world or anything. there are still tons of other great games to play on the service.
i'm also curious to see how this whole thing affects the different tiers of game pass. apparently, the essential and premium tiers are staying the same price, which is $10 and $15 a month respectively. those tiers never included day-one new releases anyway, so i guess it's not a huge deal for people who are already subscribed to those. preorders are available at major retailers, if you're thinking of signing up.
