so i just heard about this crazy story involving shuhei yoshida, a total legend in the playstation world. he's been with the company for like, 30 years, and recently he spilled the tea about why he left. apparently, he was basically fired from his role as head of worldwide studios back in 2019.
i'm still trying to wrap my head around this, but basically yoshida said that the top boss at playstation, jim ryan, wanted him to do some pretty ridiculous things. and when yoshida refused, ryan was all like, "peace out, you're done". it's pretty wild to think that someone as experienced and respected as yoshida would be let go like that. i mean, the guy had been leading worldwide studios for 11 years, so you'd think he knew what he was doing.
it's interesting that yoshida didn't just quit or leave quietly, though. he actually stuck around for a few more years, until 2024, when he finally retired. i'm guessing there's more to the story than we're hearing, but still, it's pretty cool that he's being so honest about what went down. and can we talk about how shady jim ryan sounds in all this? like, what kind of "ridiculous things" was he asking yoshida to do, anyway?
anyway, i'm curious to hear what you guys think about all this. do you think yoshida was right to stand his ground, or should he have just played along with ryan's demands? and what do you think those "ridiculous things" might have been? preorders are available at major retailers for some of the games that yoshida oversaw duringRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
