so i just heard about the steam machine and how it's finally out in the wild, which is kinda cool, i guess. it's not exactly a console, but it's not a pc either - it's just this weird thing that valve made. anyway, some people have gotten their hands on it, including this former playstation exec named shuhei yoshida.
he posted his thoughts on it and honestly, they're not super glowing. he said the performance is just "meh" and that it's hard to recommend because it's so expensive - we're talking over $1,000 here. i mean, i know some people are willing to pay that kind of money for a gaming device, but for me, it's just not feasible. yoshida also mentioned that the system defaults to 1080p, which is just weird to me - aren't we past that by now?
apparently, some games take a really long time to boot up on the steam machine, which is just frustrating. yoshida only had it for a few hours before he posted his thoughts, so maybe it gets better with time, but still. on the other hand, he did say some positive things about it - like how it's small and quiet, and the faceplate is changeable, which is a cool feature. the ui is also supposed to be really easy to use, and you can play steam games on your tv, which is definitely a plus.
i'm not sure if i'd want to drop over $1,000 on a device that's just okay, you know? but hey, if you're a huge steam fan, you might be willing to pay the price. preorders are available at major retailers, but be warned - you might have toRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
