omg, you guys, have you heard about the new far cry tv show that's coming out? it's going to be an anthology series, which i think is really cool because it means we'll get a new cast and setting every season. i love shows like that, it keeps things fresh and exciting.
so, the show just added a new cast member - lizzy caplan, who you might know from masters of sex or mean girls. she's actually the second person to join the cast, after rob mac from it's always sunny in philadelphia. i'm really interested to see how they'll work together, and what kind of characters they'll play. caplan is an amazing actress, she's been nominated for emmy awards for her roles in masters of sex and fleishman is in trouble.
the showrunner for the far cry series is noah hawley, who's also worked on alien earth and fargo. he's got a pretty unique vision for the show, and has said that he wants to "have a dialog" with the franchise, but not directly adapt any of the games. i think that's a good idea, because let's be real, video games don't always translate perfectly to tv. hawley's also mentioned that he thinks the traditional structure of a video game, with gameplay and skippable cutscenes, doesn't make for a compelling tv show story.
i'm really curious to see how the show will turn out, and how it will compare to the games. the fact that it's an anthology series means that each season will be a self-contained story, which i think is a great way to approach it. we don't know too much about the plot yet, or when the show will be released, but iRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
