so i just heard that dune: awakening is getting a major overhaul - they're basically ditching the whole pvp area thing and focusing on pve instead. i'm kinda stoked about this, since i loved the idea of exploring the dune universe, but the whole pvp thing was a major turnoff for me. i mean, who wants to be roaming around in the deep desert, just trying to gather resources, and then suddenly get jumped by a bunch of hostile players?

i remember when the game first came out, a lot of people were really disappointed by the pvp-focused endgame. it seemed like the first 60 hours or so were all about exploring and building, and then suddenly you're thrust into this whole other world of pvp. it was super jarring, and i can see why people were frustrated. the devs did try to fix it a bit by making more of the deep desert pve-only, but it was clear that they needed to make some bigger changes.

apparently, the devs did some research and found out that a huge majority of players - like, 80% - were only playing pve. that's a pretty clear message, right? so now they're shifting their focus to make pve the main event. i think this is a great move, since it'll make the game way more accessible to people who just want to explore and build without all the stress of pvp. plus, it'll be cool to see what kind of new pve content they come up with - maybe we'll get more story missions or something?
