i just got back from playing some assassin's creed black flag resynced and i'm still reeling from the experience. this game is seriously making waves - it's not only the best-reviewed assassin's creed game in 13 years, but it's also getting a ton of love from players. like, over 100,000 people were playing it on steam alone during its launch week, which is insane.
i did some digging and it seems like this is one of the best launches the series has seen in a while. for comparison, assassin's creed odyssey and shadows both had lower player counts during their launch weeks, with around 60,000 players each. and valhalla wasn't even available on steam at launch, so that's not really a fair comparison. but still, black flag resynced is killing it, and it's not just on steam - it's also available on ps5 and xbox series x|s.
it's worth noting that there's another pirate game called windrose that had an even bigger launch, with over 220,000 players on steam. but still, black flag resynced is holding its own, and i think it's because it's just such a solid game. i mean, the assassin's creed series has always been known for its rich storytelling and immersive gameplay, and black flag resynced delivers on both counts. plus, the pirate setting is just so much fun - who doesn't love sailing around and discovering hidden treasure?
but amidst all the celebration, there's some sad news - some of the developers at ubisoft barcelona are facing layoffs. apparently this is part of a bigger round of cuts that ubisoft announced in june, and around 51 people will be affected. it's always sad to see people loseRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
