okay, so portal 2 is officially 15 years old now, and i'm still thinking about how it somehow managed to nail comedy in a way that lots of games still can't. like, it's not every day you see a game that's equally funny and clever, you know? valve's 2011 puzzler is basically the gold standard for interactive comedy, and it's crazy to think about how many games have tried (and failed) to replicate that magic since then.

one of the things that sets portal 2 apart is its ability to balance humor with, well, everything else. it's not just a funny game - it's also a really well-designed puzzle game with a unique mechanic and a super atmospheric setting. and the thing is, if any of those elements had been off, the whole game would've fallen apart. i mean, think about all the games that have gotten roasted for their bad dialogue or tone-deaf humor. forspoken, borderlands 3... the list goes on.

but portal 2 gets it right, and it's largely because of its brilliant writing and voice acting. glados is basically the perfect comedic villain - she's hilarious, but also kinda terrifying, and her deadpan delivery is just perfect. and the best part is, the game doesn't overdo it - the jokes are never forced or annoying, and they never get in the way of the gameplay. it's just this perfect blend of humor and challenge, and it's something that i think a lot of games could learn from.

anyway, it's crazy to think that portal 2 is 15 years old now, but it still feels super relevant and influential. and if you haven't played it, um, what are you even doing with your life? preRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
