omg, you guys, i'm so obsessed with assassin's creed black flag resynced right now. i mean, i've played the original before, but this remake is just so gorgeous and it's like experiencing the whole caribbean adventure all over again. one of the things that's got me hooked is the mayan mystery quest - it's like, this whole side thing where you have to solve these ancient puzzles to unlock the mayan armour, which is literally one of the coolest outfits in the game.

so, to solve these puzzles, you need to find all 16 mayan stones across the map. it's not as hard as it sounds, but some of the locations have changed from the original game, so even if you're a veteran like me, you'll still have to do some digging. basically, you just need to climb to the top of these mayan sculptures, rotate the pattern until it matches the glowing objects, and then grab the stone. it's actually pretty satisfying when you figure it out, and the views from the top of the sculptures are always stunning.

you can't start collecting the mayan stones until you've completed the main story mission "this old cove", which is when james kidd explains how the whole thing works. after that, you're free to go hunting for the stones, which are scattered across various islands. some of them are pretty easy to find, while others are a bit more hidden away. i've been using the coordinates to track them down, and it's been a fun little treasure hunt.
