omg, you guys, have you heard about the drama behind the classic fps game sin? like, it was supposed to be this huge deal back in 1998, with its over-the-top violence and sexy vibes, but it ended up getting totally overshadowed by half-life. and it's not just because half-life was an amazing game (which, let's be real, it was), but also because sin's own publisher was kinda... done with them.

apparently, the devs at ritual entertainment had some big plans for sin, including a comic book and an animated movie, but things got messy when they started talking trash about publishers in the press. this did not go over well with their own publisher, activision, who had given them a pretty sweet deal in the first place. like, a 50/50 royalty deal is no joke, but ritual was all about being the new kids on the block and stirring up trouble.

so, activision gets all upset and basically decides to not even test the game before it launches. and, of course, this leads to some pretty embarrassing bugs and glitches, including the first boss being turned off by accident. i mean, can you imagine if your game launched and the first boss was just... not there? yeah, it's pretty funny, but also kinda sad, because sin was a game that had a lot of potential.
