omg, you guys, i just heard that the dungeons & dragons game from giant skull, the studio founded by stig asmussen (who directed star wars jedi: fallen order and god of war iii), has been canceled. this is kinda crazy, since it was only announced last june, and i was really hyped to see what they'd come up with. i mean, who wouldn't want to play a d&d game made by the same person who worked on those awesome star wars and god of war games?

apparently, the decision to cancel the game was made by wizards of the coast, the company behind d&d, and their parent company, hasbro. they said that they're always assessing concepts at every stage of development, and sometimes they just don't work out. which is pretty fair, i guess. i mean, it's better to cancel a game that's not going to be great than to release something that's just meh. still, it's a bummer for all of us who were looking forward to playing it.

so, what's next for giant skull? well, stig asmussen said that everything is good at the studio, and they're already talking to other companies about future publishing deals. which is great to hear, because i think they have a lot of potential. and who knows, maybe they'll come up with something even better than the d&d game they had planned. hasbro and wizards of the coast are still investing a ton of money in game development, too - they announced plans to invest $1 billion in aaa game development last year, so we can expect to see some other cool games from them in the future.
