omg, you guys, i just found out the coolest thing about resident evil's leon s. kennedy - his name is actually inspired by this old french action movie from 1994 called leon: the professional. i mean, i've heard of the movie before, but i had no idea it was connected to one of my fave game characters.

apparently, the director of resident evil 2, hideki kamiya, recently spilled the beans on social media about how leon got his name. it's kinda funny, because fans have been suspecting this connection for ages, and now we finally have confirmation. so, it turns out that kamiya was chatting with shinji mikami, the creator of resident evil, about what to name the character, and mikami wasn't feeling any of the suggestions.

kamiya then mentioned this movie he'd just watched, leon: the professional, which stars jean reno and a super young natalie portman, and mikami just went with it. i love how casual that sounds - like, they were just throwing around ideas and then bam, leon s. kennedy was born. it's crazy to think about how different the character might be if they'd chosen a different name.

i've gotta say, i'm loving this little piece of gaming trivia - it's always cool to learn more about the backgrounds of our fave characters. and now i'm kinda tempted to watch leon: the professional just to see if i can spot any other resident evil references. preorders are available at major retailers, but i'm not sure if that's relevant here - maybe if they ever make a resident evil movie inspired by the movie that inspired leon, haha. anyway, what do you guys think aboutRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
