omg, you guys, fortnite just got a whole lot more interesting - disney is teaming up with them to promote the new star wars film, the mandalorian and grogu, and it's actually really cool. basically, they've created this watch party island in the game where you can watch the first 12 minutes of the movie, and it's not just a static screening or anything - it's a full-on mini open world with quests and stuff to do.

i checked it out and the island is set on the planet nevarra from the show, which is already a pretty sweet setting. the quests are pretty straightforward, like fetch quests and taking down stormtroopers, but it's still a lot of fun. and the best part is, it's free - just head to the discover section of the lobby and you can join in on the party. i love that fortnite is doing this, it's such a great way to get people hyped for the movie and it's a really unique experience.

the watch party island is part of fortnite's bigger push to create custom star wars experiences, and i think it's a really great example of what they can do. the map is actually really detailed and it feels like you're right in the world of the mandalorian. and, as a bonus, if you spend 20 minutes on the island, you'll get a free loading screen, which is a nice little perk. preorders are available at major retailers, so if you're excited about the movie, you can grab it there.
