i just heard the news that benoit richer, one of the top devs behind the upcoming assassin's creed game codenamed hexe, has left ubisoft montreal to start his own studio. this is pretty big news, especially since he's not the first major player to leave the project - we also saw clint hocking, the creative director, exit earlier this year.

i'm a bit bummed to see richer go, since i was really looking forward to seeing what he would bring to the table with hexe. but at the same time, it's also kind of exciting to think about what he might come up with at his new studio, servo games. from what i've heard, they're all about creating these super immersive, atmospheric experiences with gorgeous visuals and really tight controls.

apparently, servo games is going to be using unreal engine 5 to build their games, and they're targeting current-gen consoles and pc. richer isn't going it alone, either - he's founded the studio with a bunch of other former ubisoft vets, including alex drouin, who's been in the industry for ages and has worked on some really iconic games. the team also includes luc tremblay and dany marcoux, who both have some serious cred when it comes to game development.

i have to admit, i'm a bit curious about what servo games is going to come up with. we don't have a lot of details yet, but the fact that they're focusing on single-player experiences is definitely a draw for me. and with the talent they've got on board, i'm hoping we'll see some really innovative and exciting stuff from them in the future. preorders are available at major retailers for hexe, but i'm not sure ifRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
