omg, you guys, i just heard about the most amazing new card game that's been in the works for like, 30 years. mark rosewater, the lead designer of magic: the gathering, has been secretly working on a game called mood swings, and it's finally going to be available for us to play. i'm super stoked because i love magic, but sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming with all the complicated rules and whatnot.
so, mood swings is supposed to be a more accessible trading card game that's all about, well, moods. each card has a different mood like patience, hostility, or cheer, and they all have special powers and point values. the goal is to play one mood card from your hand each turn, and then the player with the most points on their board wins the round. it's pretty simple, but it sounds like it could be a lot of fun, especially with the whole mood theme going on.
from what i've gathered, the game is designed for two to four players, and you'll be playing with a single 45-card deck. but don't worry, there will be over 100 cards available at launch, so you can mix and match to create your own unique deck. i love that there's a focus on simplicity, because sometimes i just want to play a game without having to read a million rules or worry about complicated strategies. mark rosewater said that he wanted to create a game that's easy to pick up, but still super fun to play, and i think he might be onto something here.
preorders are available at major retailers, and i'm definitely considering grabbing a copy. i'd love to check out the tutorial video and blog post that mark rosewater released, because i'm curiousRead more: Full article on www.gamespot.com
